Preservation Trust of Spartanburg
Former City Manager Roy Lane had a vision. He saw the then overlooked
neighborhood of Hampton Heights as an asset to the City of Spartanburg.
With the help of a handful of Hampton Heights residents, he formed the
Preservation Trust of Spartanburg to revitalize and restore this
historic neighborhood. The Trust has restored homes, increased
homeownership, and created greater community awareness of historic
preservation.
Share the Vision
Share the Vision was founded in 1997 to begin a citizen input process
to develop shared goals for the community’s future. Brainstorming
sessions, public meetings and statistical and benchmarking research
involved more than 30 area organizations and institutions and 1,000
citizens.
