1Spark! Festival Returns to Spartanburg Sept. 2-3

In addition to the six nationally-known chalk artists joining 1Spark! for its third year, the festival is also shining the spotlight on Spartanburg’s local talent with a Chalk-Off event.

So come out and see what your local artists have to offer on Sept. 2. See who takes home the cash prizes and watch the professionals work on huge, 3-D pieces that take days to complete. That night the festival will provide chalk for family and friends of all ages to draw all over the Chapman Cultural Center, too! And Growler Haus of Spartanburg and Coca-Cola will be serving up cold beer and soft drinks.

Saturday, Sept. 3, gets a new twist, too, with another new contest for culinary plate presentation. Spartanburg’s finest chefs will be showing off their art skills by presenting their most beautiful, or at least their most intriguing, food designs. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Of course, the festival will also have the Creativity Challenge on Saturday, with more cash prizes, and there will be over 100 local and regional artists, inventors and entrepreneurs demonstrating their biggest and best ideas and creations. Lots of food trucks will be serving up great meals, snacks, drinks, and deserts, and there will be live music, dance performances, and plenty of fun and games for the kiddies.

New participants, exhibits and events are being added each week, so stay up to date on all the latest by checking out the Facebook event page at www.facebook.com or by visiting www.chapmanculturalcenter.org.
