Kelsey Ronan Appointed Spring 2017 Writer’s House Resident at Hub City

Kelsey Ronan will join Hub City as Writer-In-Residence this Spring. A fiction writer whose muse is her hometown of Flint, Michigan, Kelsey’s residency will run from January until late April.

Kelsey Ronan’s short stories, essays, and journalism have appeared or are forthcoming in Michigan Quarterly Review, Indiana Review, New Ohio Review, Midwestern Gothic, Utne Reader, Belt Magazine, Cream City Review, East Village Magazine, and the St Louis Post-Dispatch. She has led creative writing workshops in shelters, libraries, and schools in Flint, Lafayette, Indiana, and St Louis. She earned her MFA from Purdue University and is the recipient of an AWP Intro Award. She is currently at work on a collection of short stories set in Flint from the 1937 Sit Down Strike to the ongoing water crisis.

“I’m so grateful to Hub City for affording me those things most precious for an artist– time, a community of fellow artists, and a Woolfian room of my own. The Hub City Residency will give me the space necessary to finish my manuscript. Having ten years of experience in creative writing outreach programs across the Midwest, I’m also excited to continue this work and share my love of stories and language with a new community.” — Kelsey Ronan
