Chapman Cultural Center provides casual, cultural entertainment every Sunday for the public’s enjoyment. The Acoustic Storm, a Spartanburg band, will perform in Zimmerli Plaza, weather permitting.
The Sundays Unplugged program features a free singer-songwriter concert, 2-4 p.m., complemented by free admission to art galleries and the history museum, 1-5 p.m.
Based in Spartanburg, the band consists of Dorman High School students Brooks Henderson (vocals/guitar), Skyler Cannon (vocals/guitar/piano), and Jamie Landers (drums). Henderson and Cannon formed The Acoustic Storm in late 2010 without serious intentions, but has since grown their presence as a contending musical group in the Upstate. The trio has performed in their style of acoustic rock with pop and alternative influences for more than four years, taking the stage at Spartanburg’s annual Spring Fling festival, II Samuel’s Restaurant, The Showroom, and Moe Joe’s Coffee and Music House in downtown Greenville. The Acoustic Storm released its first EP in May of 2014 after nearly two years of recording at the historic Jam Room Recording Studio in Columbia. Henderson said that each member of the band “shares a passion and love for music,” making for a blend of unique talent from a skilled group of young entertainers.
Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg, Spartanburg Art Museum, Spartanburg Regional History Museum, and the Student Galleries will be open with free admission, 1-5 p.m., and Spartanburg Science Center will be open for a small fee.
