February. 16: Slave Cabin Project: Mr. Joseph McGill from the National Preservation Trust will sleep at The Historic Price House in its slave cabin. He will share the experience during the symposium. February 17: Symposium on African American History in Spartanburg: Panelists will include Dr. Doyle Boggs, Dr. Damon Fordham, Dr. Frances Hardy, Dr. Carmen Harris, Dr. Dwain Pruitt, and Dr. Melissa Walker. Joseph McGill will moderate the panel. The symposium will begin at 8:30 am with refreshments and conclude at 3:30 pm. Panelists will discuss the major issues facing Spartanburg from early settlement to the present. Professional actress Carolyn Evans will appear as Harriet Tubman. The sessions will be in the Chapman Cultural Center Theatre. The cost is $15 for the symposium. An optional lunch can be reserved for an additional $7 and a bus tour of the downtown can be added for $7. Complete the registration form and send to Regional Museum, 200 E. St. John Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306 with check payment or bring the completed form to the Museum to pay with cash, credit or check. Invoicing is possible for schools. February 18: Inspiring Performances: Professional actress Carolyn Evans will appear as Harriet Tubman; Annual Community Weavers will be recognized; and Ballet Spartanburg will present a dance performance by Kyle Abraham entitled Kyle Abraham.In.Motion.
