City Council Hears From Organizations Requesting Hospitality Tax Funding

At their meeting earlier this week, Spartanburg City Council heard from groups requesting a portion of the $450,000 of Hospitality Tax funding allocated to outside groups and events.

In all, 21 groups requested funding, though Council voted 4-3 to exclude Team Spartanburg Sports Council, the group responsible for the Shrine Bowl, from consideration. The group did not submit its complete application before the deadline. Council members Jerome Rice, Jan Scalisi, and Sterling Anderson voted against the motion.
