Chapman Cultural Center is a premier destination to relax on Sunday afternoons, 1-5 p.m., with arts and cultural activities.
Its Sundays Unplugged program allows patrons free admission to most museums and galleries with a free concert by a local musician, 2-4 p.m. Folk and newgrass artist Ary performs this Sunday, Jan. 18.
Rachel Fleming, also known by her stage name Ary, describes herself as “fairly new to the music scene,” but has already been signed to McFearlis Music, LLC, a locally based label that specializes in original and cutting-edge sounds. Ary is a guitarist who performs both folk and “newgrass,” or progressive bluegrass. She is both a resident of Chesnee and student at Converse College. “The warm encouragement I have received from Spartanburg is humbling,” Ary said. “[I] am beyond excited to be on this journey.” Patrons are invited to experience her musical stylings as a budding artist this Sunday.
As always, Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg, Spartanburg Art Museum, Spartanburg Regional History Museum, and the Student Galleries complement all Sundays Unplugged events with free admission, 1-5 p.m. Spartanburg Science Center is open for a small fee.
