Converse College Faculty and Student Honored With Exclusive Trip to Oman

Dr. Joe Dunn, Reverend Jason Loscuito, and sophomore Emily Holbert were named Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Fellows for an expense-paid trip to Oman.

Emily was one of only four students named as a student recipient of this elite opportunity.

The National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations established the Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Fellowship to enable American educators to visit Saudi Arabia and the Arab Gulf countries, and to promote student enlightenment.

Since 1991, the National Council’s Annual Arab-U.S. Policymakers Conference has gathered internationally renowned specialists to analyze, discuss, and debate issues of over-arching importance to the American and Arab people’s needs, concerns, interests, and key foreign policy objectives. The 25th Arab-U.S. Policymakers Conference, “The Next U.S. Presidency and U.S.-Arab Relations: Probabilities, Possibilities, Potential Pitfalls,” will be held October 26-27, 2016, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC. As in past years, the conference will provide attendees and participants with two days of shared ideas, intense discussions and debate, and extensive networking.

The Converse College History and Politics department offers separate majors and minors in both history and politics. Many students double major in both disciplines. They offer the full range of courses in American, European and non-Western history, as well as political science courses in American government, political theory, comparative politics and international relations.
