At a short public meeting, Spartanburg City Council voted 6-0 to formally amend the City Code to refer to the Fire Chief and Police Chief as Chief Executive Officers of their respective departments, reflecting recent organizational changes.
Both police and fire chiefs currently report to the City Manager. Formerly, a Public Safety Director oversaw operations of both departments. Also at the meeting, Council voted 6-0 to appoint Crystal Thomas to the Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee.
At the conclusion of Monday’s public meeting, Council held an executive session to discuss potential downtown economic development projects. No action was taken after executive session.
