Bring the Family to Grandfather Mountain for Kidsfest on September 11

Grandfather Mountain will celebrate Kidfest, a day designed to get kids excited about the nature and culture of the North Carolina Mountains through fun and entertaining activities on Saturday, September 11. So don't miss your chance to put a smile on some faces. Grandfather Mountain will supply all the fun, all you have to do is get the kids there!

Activities Include:

All Day - Naturalist Table by Keith Mastin of Western NC Nature Center in the Nature Museum Lobby will be available throughout the day.
9 - Guided hike at the Woods Walk trail with Naturalist Katie Gray.
10 to 11 - Story time and Craft lead by Watauga County Library
11 - Birds of the Blue Ridge live demonstration in the Nature Museum Auditorium.
11 to 2 - Face painting at the Fudge Shop
12 to 2 - Nature Crafts at the Nature Museum Lobby
1 to 3 - Storyteller Glen Bollick in the Nature Museum auditorium
3 to 4 - Stationed Habitats staff on hand in Habitat area to answer questions.
3:30 - "Quick Frozen Critters" at the Woods Walk trail. A "tag" style game that teaches about the challenges our animal friends must overcome to survive in the woods.

Guided tours and guided hikes with the Mountain's naturalists are also available for an additional fee. Phone 828-733-4326 for reservations.

Grandfather Mountain is a mountain and state park near Linville, North Carolina. At 5,946 feet (1,818 m), it is the highest peak on the eastern escarpment of the Blue Ridge Mountains, one of the major chains of the Appalachian Mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway passes by the south side of the mountain. It is located at the meeting point of Avery, Caldwell (highest point), and Watauga (highest point) Counties.
