Girl Scouts Begin Selling Cookies at Local Retailers on February 20

Girl Scouts throughout the Upstate are offering cookies for sale at various local retailers beginning Friday, February 20.

For those who missed the door-to-door sales during the past month, or who would like additional cookies, this is an opportunity to take the cookies home upon purchase. The price remains the same as last year at $3.50 per box.

Girl Scout troops will be out in full force on weekends until March 16. Participating stores include Bi-Lo, Kmart, Lowe’s, Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart. Many other stores are also supporting Girl Scout cookie sales.

Beginning February 20, there are two convenient ways for customers to find the nearest cookie locations. Either download the Girl Scout Cookie Finder app for electronic mobile devices or visit GSSCcookies.org online. Locations will not be available until sales start on February 20. With the mobile app, customers can also gather information about the variety of cookies available, learn about the five skills girls gain through the Girl Scout Cookie Program and link to cookies in social media.

With the continual evolution of incorporating technology, where appropriate, to help girls learn and experience success, participating troops will be accepting credit/debit cards for cookie purchases. Individual troops have the option of utilizing this electronic form of payment.

As announced in late December, advanced technology also allows Girl Scouts the option to take in-person cookie orders from customers on their electronic devices for shipping requests. Or, girls can email an electronic order form to individuals. Customers who buy cookies from girls using this application will be able to have their order processed, paid for, and confirmed for shipping. An advantage to ordering through the girls’ electronic device is that customers can order Trios, the new gluten-free cookie with chocolate chips and peanut butter. Trios are $5.00/box and available only through shipping.

100% of the proceeds stay in the council after vendor costs and help underwrite troop activities and expenses, girl programming, camperships, member assistance, program development, training opportunities and girl-focused property improvements.
