Chapman Cultural Center will assist individuals and non-profit organizations planning to apply for a 2015-2016 arts-related grant with a workshop on Wednesday, March 18, 3-5 p.m.
The Arts Partnership of Greater Spartanburg, the administrative agency for the Center, offers ongoing community grants for cultural arts projects occurring in Spartanburg County. Awards generally range from $500 to $1,000. Recent recipients include visual artist Jane Allen Nodine, Wilkins’ Parkinson’s Foundation, St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, and jazz musician Daniel Z.
“We want local artists and non-profits who need funding for their projects to know there’s a source of help right here in the community,” Sandi Dupre, Grants Coordinator at Chapman Cultural Center, said. “The purpose of this workshop is to make the entire process as easy to understand as possible.”
Attendees will learn about the process from application to final report, including which projects qualify, how to complete the application properly, how to estimate a project budget, and how the review committee operates. The workshop will focus on the 2015-2016 program, with the first deadline in May.
“Anything from new to recurring projects in the performing, visual, literary, or folk arts is eligible,” Dupre said. “If it serves our community using arts and culture, we want you to apply.”
Registration is free, but seating is limited, so attendees must register by Wednesday, March 11.
Chapman Cultural Center’s Community Grants program is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina.
