Comfort Keepers Spartanburg Supports Effort to Wipe Out Alzheimer’s

For Erin Couchell, Alzheimer’s is personal. She’s not alone; the families of more than five million Americans can relate to her experience.

In 2008 Erin lost her mother to the disease, and since then she has taken every opportunity as the owner of the Spartanburg Comfort Keepers franchise to educate the public about the devastating effect of the disease on it’s victims as well as their families. Both Erin and Comfort Keepers has been a loyal supporter of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s for the past eight years.

As part of the Comfort Keepers Training Academy curriculum for 2015, Erin has arranged a private showing of the Oscar Award winning movie STILL ALICE, featuring Julianne Moore, for the 200 plus employees of Comfort Keepers Spartanburg.

The movie is based on Lisa Genova’s New York Times best-selling novel about the effects an Alzheimer’s diagnosis has on the life and family of a 50 year old Harvard psychology professor.

This is the second in a series of educational programs. The first being a program by the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and USC Office for the Study of Aging titled “Dementia Dialogues” presented last September.
