Local Author to Host Book Signing at Chapman

Local first-time author and life coach Brittany Carson will host a book signing at Chapman Cultural Center on May 1st from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm in promotion of The Chosen One, a nonfiction book about Spartanburg.

“This book is based on my life and the mind-blowing experiences that I have encountered,” Carson said. “I have experienced having ADHD, being misunderstood most of my life, being raised in poverty and in a dangerous neighborhood, being in the middle of drive-by shootings, being involved in a robbery as a child, being abused as a child, seeing others abused within my family, learning how to walk again after knee surgery, numerous heartbreaks of hitting rock bottom, debt, thoughts of suicide, losing myself, and then having a spiritual awakening and rediscovering myself.”

Carson was born and reared in Spartanburg. She grew up in Cammie Clagett Courts, also known as Highland. She is a graduate of Spartanburg High School (’08), Spartanburg Methodist College (’11), and Limestone College (’13). She recently completed the Tony Gaskins Life Coaching certification program.

The Chosen One was published March 2016. “I believe my story can help many other people in the world to become better, to never give up on life, to be their authentic self, and to live up to their potential,” she said. “I was inspired to step out of my shell after I experienced a spiritual awakening that motivated me to change and to let other people know about my experiences… the things that I have been through can be a guidance to others.”

here is no cost to attend the book signing. Books, T-shirts, and refreshments will be available. For more information, please contact Carson at [email protected].
