Come out on Friday, May 9, 2008 for golf, awards celebration dinner, exceptional gifts and a full day of enjoyment. The Ben Wright International Challenge Cup will once again benefit Mobile Meals. The ICC is modeled after the Ryder Cup. This golf tournament pits the national business community against the international business community. Founded by Jack Robinson and one of Spartanburg’s long-standing charity golf tournaments, it has raised thousands of dollars to help feed the hungry. If you would like a team of golfers from your company to participate please contact Susan Spires or Jordan Standrich at the Mobile Meals office at 864-573-7684. Mobile Meals is a home-delivered hot meal service for the homebound of Spartanburg County who are unable to prepare their own food. No charge is made for the meals - hot lunches and drink delivered Monday through Friday - and there are no income or age restrictions for potential recipients. Volunteers are the “life line” of Mobile Meals; it takes at least 150 volunteers per day to see that meals are delivered to the 2,000 recipients served each weekday. Mobile Meals receives no government funding and relies completely on donations from individuals, churches, organizations, memorial gifts, and special fundraising events like the Caribbean Land Cruise. Set Sail With Mobile Meals promises to be a great time, so please come out and support Mobile Meals in their work to lend a hand to neighbors in need! (Images provided by Mobile Meals.)
