SunTrust Bank Sponsors Youth Art Month at Chapman

SunTrust bank recently renewed its commitment to arts education in Spartanburg by donating $3,500 to sponsor Youth Art Month at Chapman Cultural Center.

SunTrust (and its previous owners) has donated to the arts in Spartanburg since 1987 and given to Youth Art Month since 2010.

Presenting the check was SunTrust’s Kimberly Jolley, City President/First Vice President. “SunTrust is proud to support Youth Art Month at Chapman Cultural Center,” Jolley said. “Throughout our rich history, SunTrust has always been very supportive of the arts. In the Upstate, Chapman Cultural Center plays a vital role in the presentation of the arts to the students in our schools. In partnering with Chapman Cultural Center, we believe that encouraging students to be more creative is right in line with SunTrust’s mission of helping people and institutions prosper.”

“We are very grateful for the generous SunTrust sponsorship of our arts education programs,” Chapman’s Director of Arts Education Ava Hughes said. “In addition to the annual Youth Art Month exhibition and celebration, our arts education residencies and Muse Machine programs serve students throughout the year. In 2015-16, our in-school programs reached over 36,000 students and teachers. In addition, rotating exhibitions of student art are displayed at Chapman Cultural Center all year, and feature work from every public school and many private schools and community organizations through Spartanburg County.” During Youth Art Month, all of the schools in Spartanburg County have student-made art on exhibit at Chapman Cultural Center.
