Tame the Tyger River Race Set for April 12

The 9th Annual Tame the Tyger River Race and Festival promises paddling enthusiasts more fun than ever as they paddle their way through 7.5 miles of class I and II whitewater on April 12. The race starts at 10AM. Registration forms are available now!

Boaters can push their endurance to the limit or float their way down the course. Great prizes and a boat giveaway will spur more advanced boaters to rush to the finish line. Safety boaters along the river will ensure participants of all ages navigate smoothly through the trickier sections. At the end of the race, good food, music and entertainment will kick off the festival. People can demo boats from local outfitters or chill out and watch the premier of the spring LVM whitewater kayaking movie.

Tame the Tyger River Race and Float provides great nature based photo opportunities as well as the chance to experience one of Spartanburg County’s beautiful natural resources. You don’t have to be a paddler to enjoy this event, but don’t be surprised if you get hooked on paddling once you are there!

Register now for your chance to compete and win boats and gear from Sunrift, Diamond Brand, Green River Adventures, Astral, Appomattox Boats, Jackson Kayak and more. Forms are available http://www.scprc.org/images/stories/tame_the_tyger_reg_2008.pdf.

Or, come to the festival to listen to the Shane Pruitt Band, eat good food, watch the latest LVM and demo boats from Jackson, Liquid Logic and Fluid. There will also be a rock climbing wall so even the non-paddlers in the family can have fun! For more information: 864-595-5356 or www.scprc.org.
