Palmetto Conversation Foundation is a nonprofit membership organization that conserves South Carolina’s natural resources, preserves historic landmarks, and promotes outdoor recreation and active living.
The Science Center offers programs in natural history and science to schools, scout troupes, summer camps, parks and recreations centers, and other interested groups. It also has a portable Star lab planetarium available for programs.

A crew from V. Palmetto Builders has completed work on the “put-in” just below the dam, along U.S. Highway 221.
The goal of the program is to foster a statewide network of trails and greenways by promoting trail use, management, and development.

Hatcher Garden is a community supported urban garden located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Started by a man with a dream, the garden has grown to become a beautiful woodland preserve that provides a home for wildlife and a display for the nature’s beauty. The mission of Hatcher Garden & Woodland Preserve is to be a place for the public to come for inspiration, enjoyment and education through the study of nature. The Garden is home to over 10,000 trees, shrubs and flowers. Admission is free.
Southern Appalachian Biodiversity Project is dedicated to the protection of Southern Appalachian’s native ecosystems and wildlife through education, public organizing, and legal advocacy.
SPACE is a private, not-for-profit land conservation organization whose purpose is to protect and preserve natural areas of ecological, historical, and aesthetic value to enhance the quality of life for all residents and future generations.
Upstate Forever is the grassroots, non-profit organization that is promoting sensible growth and protecting special places in the Upstate region of South Carolina. The organization has offices in Spartanburg and in Greenville.
South Carolina Sierra Club holds monthly educational program meetings and organizes a number of great hikes in the area.
Southside Unity in the Community
Southside Unity in the Community is dedicated to promoting volunteerism within the Southside community. The program intends to make available in one central location resources, training, and opportunities that will encourage volunteerism.
Southside Unity in the Community strives to lead by example. Volunteerism is rarely taught in the Southside Community; it is our hope that this program managed entirely by volunteers will inspire volunteerism in present and future generations. Call for more information.
