HALTER (Healing and Learning Through Equine Relationships)

HALTER is an affordable Therapeutic Horseback Riding program that has been serving citizens with disabilities from the Spartanburg area and students from the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind since 1987.

HALTER is a PATH International (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International) member-center, so volunteers are required to receive training before they are able to work with the program in order for volunteers and HALTER’s riders to have a safe and successful experience. Only those 15 or older are allowed to work directly with clients, however, those ages 10 – 14 who are accompanied by a parent volunteer may volunteer as a Pony Pal. Experience and knowledge of horses is not necessary.
