Young Life

Exciting action, heart-pounding adventure and a caring community. That’s what most young people want, and that’s what Young Life delivers. Through weekly meetings, small groups, summer camps, weekend excursions, sports leagues and one-on-one time with an adult leader, Young Life leaders build relationships with teenagers who are in the midst of the most turbulent times of their lives.

Spartanburg County Junior Master Gardener Program

The Clemson Extension Master Gardener Program is a volunteer training program administered by the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service. Introduced in Charleston County in 1981, the Master Gardener program is now offered in 31 counties.

Girl Scouts – Piedmont Area Council

Our mission is to give every girl the chance to participate in Girl Scouting – to serve every girl, everywhere. Any girl between the ages of 5 and 17 may become a member of the Girl Scouts. She must accept the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Although all girls are known as Girl Scouts, there are actually five age-specific program levels: Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes and Seniors.

Ballet Spartanburg

Ballet Spartanburg’s mission is to promote dance appreciation in Spartanburg County and surrounding areas by providing quality dance presentation, education, and outreach. Ballet Spartanburg produces a four program season that includes “The Nutcracker”, a fall program, a spring program and a guest company.

Affirm

Affirm is located in Greenville, SC, and serves the entire nine-county area known as the Upstate and provides a safe place where GLBTQ youth meet and form friendships, build positive self esteem, and develop skills necessary for dealing with a negative environment.

The Spartanburg Little Theatre

The mission of the Spartanburg Little Theatre is to activate, cultivate, and educate our community by providing quality theatrical experiences for children and adults alike. They stage at least four productions a year including comedies, dramas, and musical theatre. Performances are at the Chapman Cultural Center.

Junior Achievement of Spartanburg, Inc.

Junior Achievement of Spartanburg, Inc. has taught over 45,000 area students about business and the world of work. Last year alone, the organization helped instill an entrepreneurial spirit and an appreciation of the American free enterprise system in 4,000 young people in 214 JA classes.

COLORS

COLORS is a program which addresses the need for positive creative outlets for inner-city youth. COLORS’ mission is to develop young talent by providing the opportunity for them to experience the power of their own creativity. These students are able to come to an after school environment where paper, paint, pastels, charcoal and clay are provided for their creative development. Participants are supervised and encouraged by professional art instructors.

Citizen Scholars Program

This seven-year program of the Spartanburg County Foundation is designed to assist Spartanburg County students with academic potential who would not normally attend college. The seven year program provides each student with enrichment activities, classes to help prepare for college, and a relationship with a supportive adult/mentor.

Boy Scouts of America, Palmetto Council

The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.
