Come learn about the issues our seabird sanctuaries face, from Kure Atoll in the Pacific, to Crab Bank in Charleston Harbor. Enjoy light refreshments and talking with our partners before the presentation begins in the Charleston Museum Auditorium. To make sure we have room for everyone, registration is recommended. The event is free but donations to restore Crab Bank and Holaniku will be accepted at the event.

Mount Pleasant resident Virginie Ternisien will talk about her year working to restore the habitat of the remote wildlife sanctuary Holaniku, commonly known as Kure Atoll, the northwestern-most atoll in the Hawaiian archipelago. It is located 1,400 miles away from O’ahu in the Pacific Ocean. The talk ties to local efforts to save our closest bird sanctuary Crab Bank, and to reduce the flow of plastic from entering and polluting waterways and the ocean. She will be video’ed in from her next Hawaiian Island project to save birds and clean up our oceans.

Chris Crolley, the owner of Coastal Expeditions, will speak about local efforts to save Crab Bank. The event is free to attend but donations will be accepted to help restore Crab Bank and Holaniku.

Freehouse Brewery and Grassroots Wine are donating their fine beverages and Verde is donating 50% of their catering services to the event!

We will have raffle items generously donated from Half-Moon Outfitters, Timothy Banks Illustration, and all of our co-hosts from swag bags, to wine, to free admission to centers and sanctuaries all over the state!
