Lunch. It’s the ever-important pillar of working life, the demarcation line between the morning’s resignation and the afternoon’s anticipation, the standard by which all the day’s remaining happenings will be judged.
A great lunch can take an average day to the next level, and in Downtown Spartanburg the options for that crucial middle meal are more plentiful today than anyone can seem to remember.
How plentiful? Let’s draw a 500 ft. circle around the geographic center of the city and see what we come up with.

The best part about this plethora of downtown deliciousness is the growth represented in that list, with six of the 13 businesses opening since 2013.
And by no means is this the only slice of Downtown Spartanburg seeing this kind of growth. Well beyond our totally arbitrary 500 ft. boundary, the story is much the same. We could’ve dropped a pin in any number of spots downtown and the results would’ve been similar, as the Yelp results for downtown show.
With all this growth, the most obvious question is, what might be coming next? If the recent past is any indicator, we won’t have to wait long to find out. Either way, the future is looking pretty bright these days for local foodies in search of the next great place to grab a little lunchtime grub.
