Cowpens National Battlefield

Cowpens National Battlefield, in Cowpens, SC, commemorates a decisive battle that helped turn the tide of war in the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution. Spartanburg Youth Soccer Club

The Spartanburg Youth Soccer Club is a not-for-profit organization striving for excellence on and off the soccer field. The day to day operations are overseen by a large volunteer group led by the Board of Director’s, along with a full-time Executive Director of Administration and Coaching. Spartanburg Area Tennis Association

Spartanburg Area Tennis Association is an organization that runs the men’s USTA tennis leagues in the Spartanburg Area. SATA offers Adult (ages 19 and up) and Senior leagues (ages 50 and up).

Duncan Park

Duncan Park is located at 1000 Duncan Park Drive. Its baseball field is one of the oldest minor league fields in the nation, and the park has a wooded walking trail, open grass area, tennis courts, picnic area, and is also home to the VFW War Memorial.

Walnut Grove Plantation

Walnut Grove Plantation is on land granted in 1763 by King George III to Charles Moore when the area was known as the backcountry. The documented collection of antique furnishings and accessories vividly portrays living conditions in Spartanburg County prior to 1805.

Upstate Mountain Bikers Association

Spartan Spinners Square Dance Club

We are a Modern Western Square Dance club dancing Mainstream and announced Plus levels on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month 7:30-9:30 with early rounds at 7:00 on the 1st Saturday of the month at Holy Communion Lutheran Church’s Gillespie Center Hall (located at 1430 John B. Lawson’s Fork Creek

Lawson’s Fork Creek is now accessible to paddlers who want to put in at Whitney and float to Lawson’s Fork is now accessible to paddlers who want to put in at Whitney and float to the Cottonwood Trail, a distance of 4.5 river miles. A crew from V. Palmetto Builders has completed work on the “put-in” just below the dam, along U.S. Highway 221.

Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve

Hatcher Garden is a community supported urban garden located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Started by a man with a dream, the garden has grown to become a beautiful woodland preserve that provides a home for wildlife and a display for the nature’s beauty. The mission of Hatcher Garden & Woodland Preserve is to be a place for the public to come for inspiration, enjoyment and education through the study of nature. The Garden is home to over 10,000 trees, shrubs and flowers. Admission is free.

Spartanburg Ski and Outing Club

Spartanburg Ski and Outing Club is a group of people with many and diversified interests. The original primary focus of the club was skiing , but members now enjoy additional group activities such as a night out bowling, hiking, attending theatrical productions, rafting/kayaking trips, dining out once a month at local restaurants, super bowl parties, and an annual “pig roast”.

Southside Unity in the Community

Southside Unity in the Community is dedicated to promoting volunteerism within the Southside community. The program intends to make available in one central location resources, training, and opportunities that will encourage volunteerism.

Cleveland Park is located at 141 N. Cleveland Park Drive. Rides on Sparky and Sparkles, the historic miniature trains, are available for all ages April through October.   • Inman Recreation Center, located at 25 Oakland Ave. in Inman, is open on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and offers a selection of recreational classes including Shag, Line Dance, Aerobics, and Piano. Inman Recreation Center also offers the Silver Sneakers fitness class for senior adults, which is held on Monday and Wednesday mornings at Inman First Baptist Church, and hosts Square Dances at the center on the 2nd and 4th Friday nights of each month.   • Spartanburg County Parks and Recreation Commission is a full service recreation department offering recreation centers, parks, youth and adult athletic leagues, afterschool and summer camp programs, outdoor adventure programming, 50+ adult programs, and special events. Feature facilities include Cleveland Park on Asheville Highway in Spartanburg, the Old Canaan Road Soccer Complex, 295 and North Spartanburg Sports Complexes, BMX Track at North Spartanburg, Woodruff Leisure Center, and Va-Du-Mar McMillan Park in Boiling Springs which features multipurpose fields and the county’s first Disc Golf course. Trident Area Youth Soccer Association

Trident Area Youth Soccer Association is affiliated with South Carolina Youth Soccer Association, United States Youth Soccer Association, United Soccer Federation, and Federation Internationale de Football Association.

Carolina Scuba Club

Carolina Scuba Club meets at 6:30pm the third Tuesday of each month at Fatz Cafe, 1145 Woodruff Rd., Greenville. Call for more information.

Carolina Panthers Training Camp

The Carolina Panthers train every summer at Wofford College, and host a variety of camps, competitions, and programs. Football fans are welcome to watch practices; it is strongly suggested that fans bring blankets, towels, folding chairs, or golf-type stools to make the hillside a more comfortable spot, and also sunscreen and hats.

Mountaineering & Whitewater Club

The purpose of the Mountaineering Whitewater Club is to make a wide range of outdoor activities available to the students of USC. We participate in canoeing, rock climbing (both in the gym and outside), backpacking, kayaking, ice climbing and of course mountaineering and white water rafting.

Music on Main

Since its inception more than ten years ago, Music on Main has been embraced by the Spartanburg community as a favorite after-work social gathering. What began as a plan to re-introduce the business community and the local residents to the downtown area is now a destination point where you can meet your friends and colleagues, hear great live music, enjoy food and beverages in an outdoor setting, and just have plain fun! Free concert are held Thursday evenings April through July from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Morgan Square.

Mudslingers

The Cherokee Mudslingers ATV Club is a member run club dedicated to safe, fun and ethical ATV riding. The club was formed in July of 1998 when landowners stopped OHVs from riding at the sandbar located in Gaffney, SC on the Broad River. The club headquarters are located in Gaffney, SC.
